How to Use a Dark Theme in Windows 10 ?
Since version 1809, Windows 10 has a dark mode, also called a “dark theme” or “black theme” .
In this tutorial, we will see how to activate this dark theme on Windows 10 to improve your visual comfort !
Windows 10 dark mode
As the name suggests, Dark Mode applies a black theme to applications and system.
It allows you to rest your eyes and fight fatigue if you spend a lot of time in front of your computer screen or if you work in the dark; it also significantly reduces energy consumption.
By activating it, the dark theme will automatically apply to all Windows applications (UWP applications): applications integrated into Windows 10 such as Mail, Contacts, Photos… as well as Microsoft Store applications (if the application supports it) .
Please note, the dark theme will not apply to desktop applications (Win32 applications). Only a few desktop applications respect this setting, such as File Explorer or Paint.NET.
Activate the dark theme
- Open the Settings.
- Click Personalization > Colors.
- Under “Choose your color“, select Dark.
Well, Windows 10 is now in Dark Mode !
By selecting Custom, you can choose to apply the dark theme either to the system (taskbar, Start menu, etc.) via Windows mode, or to applications via application mode.
